The Pupil Premium is funding given to schools by the Government which is additional to the main school funding. We use this additional funding to provide extra resources to support the education of pupils from low income families who are currently known to be eligible for free school meals (FSM) and by doing so we aim to reduce any gaps in achievement. Pupils who are ‘Looked After’ by the Local Authority are also entitled to receive the Pupil Premium.
At Meadow Park we use this extra funding in two ways:
40% is utilised for additional staffing costs which is directly associated with providing additional services to pupils in receipt of pupil premium. This makes a contribution to the costs of the Mentor and Therapy Teams in school.
60% if used as a ‘personal / bespoke’ resource for pupils. Each pupil has their own Pupil Premium Plan called “My Impact Plan.” This details the following:
- What do I need?
- How will it help me?
- What will I achieve?
- What will it cost?
- What do I need to do and by when?
All elements of the Impact Plan are reviewed each term.
These plans are bespoke to the needs of each pupil. Pupils can request what they need and are supported by staff to make appropriate choices which will enable them to make improvements in their achievement and learning progress.
